A. James is a 17 year-old chemical engineering student at Georgia Tech. Her first book, Do Not Take the Train, is a middle-grade mystery. It won the 2025 Paterson Prize for Books for Young People and the Dr. Joseph Francavilla Prize for Fiction. “Goldenrod” is her first published short story.
